Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone can help me.
I am an Australian tourist here on a holiday from England. On Sat nite i was caught driving drunk - .08

I am planning on going home tomorrow - will this catch up with me somewhere if I ignore it and go back to England?

The court can do one of three things:

1. Deal with your case in your absence. The likely penalty is a fine of $1000 or less and a disqualification period.
2. Issue a warrant for your arrest. If you were to come back to NSW you are likely to be arrested.
3. The court could adjourn the matter for a few weeks. Ultimately they would do 1 or 2.

I suggest that you get a lawyer to act for you and they can ask the court to deal with you in your absence. This way a warrant will not be issued.
