An off-duty police officer is due to appear in court later this year after allegedly drink driving at Nelson Bay early yesterday.
Police say the female officer was stopped by police conducting random breath testing on Tuncurry Close just after 1:00am (AEST).

It is alleged the breath test returned a positive result and she was taken to Nelson Bay police station.
The Constable, who is attached to a local command in the South-West Metropolitan Region, undertook another test and allegedly returned a reading of 0.088.

She was charged with mid-range proscribed concentration of alcohol and had her licence suspended.

Police officers should pay more attention to what they do even when they are off duty! They are supposed to understand and obey the law better.
