PCYC Course

Postby reaper » July 23rd, 2013, 2:33 pm

I'm a first offender low range PCA (0.073) in NSW. My previous driving record is excellent. No traffic infringements at all for 15 years. Is enrolling in a PCYC program likely to assist me get a Section 10, or will I "Live or die" on the offence itself? Any advice appreciated.

Just one other point about my situation: No course starts in my area before my court date: Is a magistrate likely to take any notice of an enrolment in a course, even if you haven't been to any classes?

Hi Reaper,

From my experience, completion of the Traffic Offenders Program at a PCYC will give you credit in court and generally act in your favour at sentencing. Of course, this will be taken into account in relation to other factors such as the circumstances of the offence and any previous history fir example.

A Magistrate will generally approve an adjournment for you to complete the Program and list the matter for sentence after the completion of the program.

If you would like further information about your individual circumstances I would be happy to speak to you on 02 9261 4555.

I had a good result: a section 10 dismissal. The PCYC course helped (it was referred to by the magistrate) as did a well drafted letter of apology and of course a sympathetic magistrate. I feel fortunate to have got out of this as it was a very stressful period in my life.
